Scottsdale Ranch: A Great Place to Live
Scottsdale Ranch is a stunning, 1,119-acre, master-planned community of just 3,938 properties in the heart of greater Scottsdale, just south of central Scottsdale. A young development– built in the early 1980’s– the community is anchored by the amazing 42-acre Lake Serena, giving many properties gorgeous lakeside views. A fantastic multi-purpose Community Center works great for kicking back and playing a board game– or hosting a wedding reception. Sitting against the backdrop of the McDowall Mountains and Lake Serena, the Community Center is a hub of local activity. Want to host a block party, or a private event? Scottsdale Ranch has a fully stocked, community block party trailer available for rent to make sure your event runs smoothly.
Invaluable to the community is Scottsdale Ranch Park, a sprawling 64-acre recreational venue. The park has lighted racquetball and basketball courts, sand volleyball courts and two lighted baseball fields! There are picnic ramadas available for rental with space for up to 425. There is the US Tennis Association-award winning Tennis Center, with 12 lighted tennis courts. Tennis, racquetball, and volleyball clubs and leagues make use of the center. Scottsdale Ranch Park also houses the beautiful and educational Desert Garden Park, a three zoned venue designed to both appreciate the beauty of nature as well as to facilitate study of local flora, fauna and wildlife. The low desert zone contains a hummingbird nest area, the high desert zone has a saguaro and bat sanctuary, and the riparian (the area near a river) community zone has a butterfly garden. The Desert Garden park is free and open to the public. Boating and fishing on Lake Serena are a great pastime for many local residents.
Scottsdale Ranch’s community is friendly and welcoming, with many community events and associations. Community groups are facilitated by the Scottsdale Ranch Community Association. Notable among these are the Yacht Club, the Women’s Association, the Wine Club, the Mom’s Group and more! Neighborhoods in the tight-knit community are distinguished by property type: there are apartment communities, condominium associations, a neighborhood of single family homes, and the waterfront. Scottsdale Ranch is also a community mindful of its fellow Americans: the Community Association sponsors a number of initiatives over the years, such as the Wounded Warrior project, the Walk for Hope to end Breast Cancer, and local animal rescue groups.
Scottsdale Ranch has one “A+” rated grade school and is adjacent to two “A” rated middle and high schools, meaning you can be assured your children will get the quality education they deserve and the best foundation possible for college and career. Desert Mountain High School offers AP and IB courses, as well as a full slate of extra-curricular activities, to ensure your children reach their fullest potential.
Scottsdale Ranch has activities for the young and the young at heart. The Virginia Piper branch of the Boys and Girls Club offers over 100 after-school and summer programs for kids in a safe, supervised environment. Everything from sports and intramurals to field trips and carnivals are available for kids five and up. There’s even a teen center that opened in May of 2011! To be fair, however, children can’t have all the fun: the Via Linda Senior Center is full of events open to the public. Language classes, dance instruction, tai chi and fitness programs, and even movie nights are organized at the Via Linda Senior Center. The Center also offers convenient health screenings for blood pressure, vision and more.
